Accessability for the Blind has come a long way and is continuing to progress forward in many areas. One area that seems seems to be regressing is the internet. With the onset of more viruses and spam a needed security feature has been implimented called CAPTCHA. Though, as a computer major myself, this is a much needed addition, many do not realize that it is closing the door to us in the blind community who use screen readers. If you are having a problem with this as many are one of the best thing we can do is to contact the sites and remind them that we are interested in their services also. below is a clip I found on youtube that addresses this very problem with several popular sites.
As I had stated, this is a necessary feature to make everyones web experience more desirable by reducing spammers but we are locked out. There is a very simple fix to this that several sites are not implimenting and that is the addition of the audio link.
Following is a link for a petition to myspace to use the audio enhanced CAPTCHA
